Andrew Feldstein

Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer, Partner

Andrew Feldstein is BlueMountain’s Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer. Mr. Feldstein is the Chair of the Firm’s Management and Investment Committees and a member of the Risk Committee. Prior to co-founding BlueMountain in 2003, Mr. Feldstein spent over a decade at J.P. Morgan where he was a Managing Director and served as Head of Structured Credit; Head of High Yield Sales, Trading and Research; and Head of Global Credit Portfolio. Mr. Feldstein is a member of the board of directors of PNC Financial Services Group Inc. He is also a Trustee of Third Way, a public policy think tank; a Trustee of the Santa Fe Institute, an independent research and education center; and a member of the Harvard Law School Leadership Council. Mr. Feldstein earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from Georgetown University.

Stephen Siderow

Co-Founder, Co-President, Partner

Stephen Siderow is BlueMountain’s Co-Founder and Co-President. Mr. Siderow oversees the Firm’s business development and strategic initiatives and he is a member of the Firm’s Management, Compliance, and Risk Committees. Prior to co-founding BlueMountain in 2003, Mr. Siderow was a Senior Consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on the financial services industry, serving senior management executives and CEOs on business strategy, organization and operations issues. Prior to McKinsey, Mr. Siderow was a corporate attorney with Cleary Gottlieb. Mr. Siderow serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Birthright Israel Foundation, a program that provides the gift of first-time peer education trips to Israel for young Jewish adults. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Ars Nova, which provides training and development programs to young performing artists, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute at Mt. Sinai Hospital, whose mission is to advance the field of palliative medicine through clinical, educational and research initiatives. Mr. Siderow earned a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and a B.A., magna cum laude, in Philosophy, from Amherst College. Mr. Siderow was also a Fulbright and a Sheldon Scholar in Israel.

Michael Liberman

Michael Liberman is BlueMountain’s Co-President and Chief Operating Officer. He has led the development of the Firm’s Technology, Quant and Operational platforms and now oversees a number of BlueMountain’s business areas. Mr. Liberman is the Chairperson of the Firm’s Valuation Committee, and a member of the Management, Risk, and Hiring Committees. From 2012 through 2015 he was recognized by the Institutional Investor’s Trading Technology 40, an annual ranking of the field’s top innovators and visionaries. Prior to joining BlueMountain in 2004, he was a Managing Director and Head of Global Interest Rate Strats at Goldman Sachs, where he was responsible for the quantitative strategies and systems for trading and risk management. Prior to Goldman, Mr. Liberman was at J.P. Morgan where he was most recently Head of Global Rates Derivatives Technology, and was a lead developer of derivatives risk management systems. Earlier in his career, Mr. Liberman developed database and telecommunication software in Silicon Valley. Mr. Liberman holds a B.A. with the highest honors in Mathematics and an M.A. in Mathematics from Brandeis University. Mr. Liberman also continued his graduate studies in Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley.

Scott Beardsley
Scott Beardsley

Head of Treasury & Operations, Partner

Scott Beardsley is BlueMountain’s Head of Treasury & Operations, responsible for the Firm’s Liquidity Management, Portfolio Finance, PnL, Valuations and Trade Support teams. Mr. Beardsley joined BlueMountain at inception in 2003. Mr. Beardsley is a member of the Firm’s Valuation, Risk & Compliance Committees and chairs the Trade Oversight Committee. Externally, Mr. Beardsley is the firm representative on ISDA’s Credit Steering Committee and is a member of MFA’s Derivatives & Swaps Committee. Previously, he was a Senior Associate in the Business Architecture group at Paloma Partners. Mr. Beardsley also worked for several years as an Associate Manager at GlobeOp Financial Services, the fund administration service provider. He earned an M.B.A. with Honors from Clarkson University and a B.S. in Finance and Economics from Castleton State College.

Brandon Cahill
Brandon Cahill

Portfolio Manager; Head of Structured and Technical Credit, and Partner

Brandon Cahill is BlueMountain’s Head of Structured and Technical Credit, where he co-heads the CLO business and is responsible for the firm’s mortgage, synthetic CDO and technical credit strategies. Mr. Cahill also sits on BlueMountain’s Investment and Valuation Committees. In addition, Mr. Cahill acts as the Co-CEO of BlueMountain Fuji, a CLO management platform where he focuses on capital markets and structuring. Prior to joining BlueMountain in 2004, Mr. Cahill was an analyst in Citigroup’s Global Project and Structured Trade Finance group. He attend the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated magna cum laude, earning a Bachelor’s in Economics and Mathematics.

Laura Cappiello

Head of Human Capital Management & Deputy General Counsel

Laura Cappiello is BlueMountain’s Head of Human Capital Management & Deputy General Counsel, responsible for overseeing the Firm’s talent management, personnel, and communications, and is a member of the Firm’s Management, Compliance, and Hiring Committees. Previously Ms. Cappiello spent four years as the Director of Human Resources & Communications at Chilton Investment Company. Prior to Chilton, she was Senior Manager of Legal Recruiting with Sullivan & Cromwell and a Litigation Associate with Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Ms. Cappiello serves on the board of the non-profit organization, Behind the Book. She earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a B.A. in English & Politics, summa cum laude, from New York University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

CEO, Europe, Head of Client Advisory – Europe and Middle East, Partner

Louisa Church is BlueMountain’s CEO of Europe and Head of Client Advisory – Europe, Middle East and Australia, and is a member of the Firm’s Compliance Committee. Ms. Church has primary responsibility for covering UK, European, Middle Eastern and Australian institutional investors, consultants and HNW individuals and their advisors. She sources and develops new investors as well as maintains and extends our relationships with our current clients. Prior to joining BlueMountain, Ms. Church was responsible for business development at Odey, a UK Long/Short equity manager. She began her financial services career at Ferox, a convertible arb fund manager, where she served as a marketer. Ms. Church is a 2004 graduate of Edinburgh University, where she earned an M.A. in Art History.

Sarah Dahan

Portfolio Manager; Head of Global Volatility, Partner

Sarah Dahan is BlueMountain’s Head of Global Volatility. Prior to joining the Firm in 2008, Ms. Dahan was at J.P. Morgan in interest rate proprietary trading, trading agency mortgages and options on mortgages. Ms. Dahan attended Columbia University, where she received an M.S.c. in Financial Engineering. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Ecole Centrale in Paris, France.

Josh Drazen

Head of Investment Strategy and Product Development, Partner

Josh Drazen is BlueMountain’s Head of Investment Strategy and Product Development. Mr. Drazen is also a member of the Risk Committee and a member of the Fund Management Group. In these roles, he works with investors on the suitability of BlueMountain funds for their portfolio objectives and serves as a proxy for investors in capital allocation and risk decisions. Mr. Drazen joined BlueMountain in 2007 and served as Head of Investor Relations and Client Service from 2010-2014. Prior to BlueMountain, Mr. Drazen held positions at JP Morgan, Citigroup and McKinsey & Company. He holds a B.S. magna cum laude in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Paul Friedman

Paul Friedman is BlueMountain’s General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, and previously served as the Firm’s Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Friedman is the Chair of the Firm’s Compliance Committee, and a member of the Firm’s Management, Valuation, Investment, and Hiring Committees. Prior to joining BlueMountain in 2010, Mr. Friedman spent over 10 years as an attorney with Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco and Kenneth Cole Productions in New York. Mr. Friedman earned a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in Economics and Public Policy, summa cum laude, from Duke University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Michael Kass

Portfolio Manager; Head of Appraisal Claims Strategy

Michael Kass has led the Appraisal Claims strategy at BlueMountain since 2015, and serves on the Firm’s Investment Committee. Before assuming strategy leadership, Mr. Kass invested across multiple industry sectors within the Firm’s fundamentally-driven investment strategies. Prior to joining BlueMountain in 2009, Mr. Kass was a co-founder and Head of Research at 3-Sigma Value Management. Prior to 3-Sigma, he was a Vice President in Lehman’s Global Restructuring Group, where he advised debtors, financial sponsors, and GSEs in bankruptcy proceedings. Prior to Lehman, Mr. Kass was an Associate at Miller Buckfire, focusing on restructurings in telecom, industrials, and restaurants. He began his career at McKinsey and Co, which he joined after receiving his J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, his B.S.E. in International Finance from Wharton, and his B.A. summa cum laude from University of Pennsylvania.

Lee Kempler

Chief Operating Officer for Investments

Lee Kempler is the Chief Operating Officer for Investments at BlueMountain. He is responsible for managing and improving the processes associated with information flow among Portfolio Managers, the CRO, and CIO; decision-making on large capital commitments through the Investment Committee; and capital allocation within BlueMountain funds. Mr. Kempler also supports the CIO on strategy and planning initiatives. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kempler was a Managing Director at BlackRock, where he was the founding Executive Director of the BlackRock Investment Institute, an industry-leading platform for collaboration among portfolio managers and communication of investment insight to clients. Prior to BlackRock, Mr. Kempler spent nearly 25 years at McKinsey & Company, where he served clients in financial services and became the Firm’s first Director of Knowledge, with responsibility for capturing, codifying, and disseminating the firm’s intellectual property. Mr. Kempler holds BA, BS, and MBA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He serves on the Board of Advisors of SAIS and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Charles Kobayashi
Charles Kobayashi

Portfolio Manager; Loan & CLO Management, Partner

Charles Kobayashi is a Portfolio Manager responsible for BlueMountain’s CLO investments, and is a member of the Firm’s Risk Committee. Prior to joining BlueMountain, Mr. Kobayashi was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Indosuez Capital with responsibility for managing $2.0 billion in leverage loan, CDO, and high yield assets. Before joining Indosuez Capital in 2001, Mr. Kobayashi managed $1.5 billion in proprietary capital of high yield bonds, leverage loans, structured notes, CDO, and distressed assets as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at ORIX USA Corp. He also worked at Bank of Tokyo Trust where he was involved in mergers and acquisitions and restructuring. Mr. Kobayashi earned an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University and a B.S. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Noam Leslau

Head of Client Advisory – North America and Asia, Partner

Noam Leslau is BlueMountain’s Head of Client Advisory – North America and Asia. Mr. Leslau has primary responsibility for the firm’s relationships with its institutional investors, consultants, and wealth management platforms. In this capacity, Mr. Leslau oversees the New York-based client advisory function and team. Mr. Leslau also spent four years in BlueMountain’s London office. Before joining BlueMountain in 2004, Mr. Leslau worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he advised senior client executives on corporate strategy, potential acquisitions, sales and marketing, operations and business development. Mr. Leslau earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a B.A., summa cum laude, in History and Economics from Stanford University.

Mauboussin, Michael
Michael Mauboussin

Director of Research

Michael Mauboussin is the Director of Research at BlueMountain Capital. Prior to joining BlueMountain, Mr. Mauboussin had been Head of Global Financial Strategies at Credit Suisse since 2013, where earlier in his career he had been an analyst and, subsequently, Chief U.S. Investment Strategist. From 2004 to 2013, he was Chief Investment Strategist at Legg Mason Capital Management. He is also a former president of the Consumer Analyst Group of New York and was named to the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team and The Wall Street Journal All-Star survey on multiple occasions. Mr. Mauboussin has been an adjunct professor of finance at Columbia Business School since 1993, and is on the faculty of the Heilbrunn Center for Graham and Dodd Investing. He is also chairman of the board of trustees of the Santa Fe Institute, a leading center for multi-disciplinary research in complex systems theory

James Pieri

Portfolio Manager; Head of Private Healthcare

Jim Pieri is a Portfolio Manager at BlueMountain responsible for the Firm’s Private Healthcare strategy. Mr. Pieri currently serves on the Firm’s Investment Committee. Since joining BlueMountain in 2012, Mr. Pieri has built and managed a portfolio of private investments across the capital structure in Healthcare, Structured Finance & Real Asset related markets. Prior to joining BlueMountain, Mr. Pieri led Principal Finance & Structuring businesses within the global Markets divisions of J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank. Mr. Pieri holds a B.A. in Applied Economics and Business Management from Cornell University and a M.P.A. with a concentration in Economic Policy & Management from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Dava Ritchea

Chief Financial Officer

Dava Ritchea is BlueMountain’s Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the Firm’s Fund Accounting, Management Company Accounting, Tax and Corporate Finance teams. Ms. Ritchea is a member of the Firm’s Management, Valuation and Hiring Committees. Prior to joining BlueMountain in 2013, Ms. Ritchea was a Vice President in the Hedge Fund Advisory Group at Credit Suisse. Ms. Ritchea also worked for several years at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital in roles in Corporate Strategy and Investment Banking. She earned her B.S in Finance with a minor in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Lance Rosen

Portfolio Manager; Head of Equities

Lance Rosen is BlueMountain’s Head of Equities, a Portfolio Manager, and serves on the Firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining the firm, he was the President and Chief Investment Officer at Kinrose Capital, a private family office. Prior to co-founding Kinrose, Lance spent a decade at Perry Capital where he was a Managing Partner, Head of U.S. Equities, and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. While at Perry, Lance was responsible for leading a team of 25+ investment professionals with ultimate oversight of $10+ billion in assets under management. He graduated Magna cum Laude from Cornell University and received his M.A. and M.Phil. in Political Science from Columbia University, where he was a President’s Fellow. Lance is a member of the board of directors of Trade Informatics, a financial technology firm that uses big data analytics to help investment management firms retain more of their alpha by narrowing the gap between expected and actual returns. He is a C.F.A. charter holder.

Brad Schwartz
Brad Schwartz

Portfolio Manager; Head of Asset-Based Investing

Brad Schwartz is a Portfolio Manager responsible for BlueMountain’s investments in specialty finance companies, consumer-related asset-backed securities, and whole-asset investments. He joined the Firm in 2008 from J.P. Morgan, where he held a number of senior level positions over a twenty-year career. In the early 1990s, Mr. Schwartz built J.P. Morgan’s Asset Finance and Principal Lending business into one of the biggest and most profitable in the industry. His responsibilities included originating, structuring, and risk-managing transactions across all asset classes. In 2005, Brad started the ABS Principal Investment Management group at J.P. Morgan. Mr. Schwartz graduated from Dickinson College with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and received an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from Cornell University.

Colin Teichholtz

Portfolio Manager; Head of Global Governments & Agency MBS

Colin Teichholtz is BlueMountain’s Head of Global Governments & Agency MBS, focused on interest rate products, U.S. agency-mortgage backed securities and other related fixed income markets. Before joining BlueMountain in 2018, Mr. Teichholtz was a Partner and Member of the Executive Committee at Pine River Capital, where he launched and managed multiple successful investment teams across a broad array of fixed-income and relative value strategies covering the U.S., Europe, Asia and emerging markets. Prior to Pine River, Mr. Teichholtz was Co-Head of U.S. Interest Rates and Head of Agency MBS Pass-throughs at Morgan Stanley. He started his career at Goldman Sachs as a trader of mortgage and later emerging markets debt before becoming an emerging market credit portfolio manager and hedge fund manager.

Head of Quantitative Strategy, Head of Systematic Investing, and Partner

Perry Vais is a Partner, Head of Quantitative Strategy, and Head of Systematic Investing at BlueMountain Capital Management. His responsibilities include overseeing quantitative research, systematic trading strategies, and data science at the firm. Prior to joining BlueMountain in 2006, Mr. Vais worked at DKR Oasis Capital Management developing quantitative models and trading analytics. Mr. Vais earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Binghamton University.

Omar Vaishnavi

Portfolio Manager; Head of Fundamental Credit and Distressed/Special Situations, Partner

Omar Vaishnavi is BlueMountain’s Head of Fundamental Credit and Distressed/Special Situations, and a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining BlueMountain in 2009, Mr. Vaishnavi was a distressed debt analyst at Silver Point Capital, with a focus on healthcare investments. Prior to Silver Point, Mr. Vaishnavi was an investment banking analyst at UBS. Mr. Vaishnavi is a member of the board of Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, where he has served since 2011. Mr. Vaishnavi earned a B.S. in Economics, with a concentration in Finance and Statistics, from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Weber, John
Jon Weber

Head of Portfolio Company Management

Jon Weber is the Head of Portfolio Company Management, and serves on the Firm’s Investment Committee. Mr. Weber works with management and boards of companies where the firm is an influential investor. Prior to joining BlueMountain, Mr. Weber headed groups at Anchorage Capital Group, Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group and Icahn Enterprises, where he was responsible for operational oversight, governance and value enhancement of portfolio companies. In those capacities, he has served as a board member, senior executive, and board-level advisor for companies in a broad range of industries over 15 years. Roles included President of Icahn Enterprises, L.P. (NYSE-IEP), CEO of Philip Services Corporation and Viskase Companies, and board member of American Railcar Industries, Bavaria Yachtbau, Crescent Communities, Martinrea Honsel, National Energy Group, WestPoint International, WIND Hellas, Xenith Bankshares and XO Communications. Previously, Mr. Weber was an investment banker at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Morgan Stanley, and an attorney with Weil, Gotshal & Manges. He is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Weber earned a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and B.S. and M.B.A., magna cum laude, from Babson College.

Amy Wierenga
Amy Wierenga

Chief Risk Officer, Partner

Amy Wierenga is BlueMountain’s Chief Risk Officer and is responsible for the Risk and Portfolio Construction team. Ms. Wierenga is also Chair of the Risk Committee and a member of the Firm’s Valuation Committee. She joined BlueMountain in 2008 from Merrill Lynch, where she was responsible for market risk in the Global Rates and FX trading businesses. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Ms. Wierenga worked as a commissioned Bank Examiner and Market and Liquidity Risk Specialist for the Federal Reserve Bank. Ms. Wierenga received the Federal Reserve’s C.M.L. Bishop Award for Excellence and Outstanding Achievement in 2004. Ms. Wierenga earned an M.B.A in Analytic Finance, Econometrics and Statistics from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. She graduated with high honors from Butler University with Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Music.

Alan Gerstein

Senior Advisor

Mr. Gerstein is a Senior Advisor and Partner at BlueMountain. He is also a member of the Firm’s Valuation Committee and serves as a Director of several BlueMountain hedge funds. Since joining BlueMountain in 2004, Alan has held a number of key roles including CEO Europe and Senior Portfolio Manager overseeing Volatility and Fixed Income Arbitrage Strategies, and also managed the Risk Team. Prior to joining BlueMountain, Alan was a Vice President and Head of U.S. Investment Grade Credit Derivatives Trading at Goldman Sachs. Over a 10 year career at Goldman, Alan held several other senior positions including Head of U.S. Agency Bond Trading and in Interest Rate Derivatives Marketing. Prior to that, Alan was a Vice President of Interest Rate Derivatives Marketing at J.P. Morgan, where he worked with Andrew. Alan is a member of the MIT Corporation Development Committee and the Board of Trustees at Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY. Alan holds an M.B.A. from the MIT Sloan School of Management and B.S. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
